Spacebar, one of my "Sherpa" companies debuted this morning on Angel List.
Spacebar has a very exciting idea: an elegantly simple (one minute from download to being “on the air” globally), very powerful (256 kbps, full stereo) smartphone app, and back-end system, that democratizes live broadcasting – anyone with the app can broadcast and/or listen to live broadcasts from anyone, anywhere in the world. The system also gives live broadcasters the holy grail of immediate data on listeners: who, where, how long – and how they shared the broadcast. Big time sports has figured out the power of broadcasting "live", but no one else has. Spacebar enables everyone else.
The technology platform supports a broad range of vertical market applications: live music, journalism, education (distance learning), sports, speeches (politicians & others), comedians, city council (and other) meetings, and on and on and on.
Good, early traction in the initial go-to-market: live music and DJ's.
Very scrappy, good team.
Great investors: Tom Glocer (former CEO ThomsonReuters), Tim Mott (co-founder of Electronic Arts, Macromedia, Audible), among others.
Launched at TechCrunch Disrupt & the recipient of an

Download the app and try it.
Excited to be an investor.
